Annexures to Minutes: Declarations of surgeons.

In terms of article 27 of the Instructions for the Burgher Military Council 1768, burghers who required exemption from service on account of illness, had to submit a declaration from a recognised surgeon. In such instances, the declarations were discussed at Council meetings. The declarations are arranged in chronological order.

Includes extracts from the baptismal registers of Cape Town and Swartland (later Malmesbury) churches, 1770 - 1781 wich were utilised by the Burgher Military Council to determine the correct ages of individuals who rendered military service.

Dates of appointment are also given.
Each watch was given a number (i.e 1 - 24) and was under direct command of a sergeant and a corporal. With a few exeptions, identical to item 6.

Following each man's name, the company under which he served is indicated, e.g. 2CI (Tweede Compagnie Infanterie or Second Infantry Compagny). Includes a list of twenty burghers who formed the "Ratewag' which list is almost identical to that desribed under item 5.
